comic books vs the world

There is a Youtube channel called Comicbooks Vs. the World. it is extremely helpful understanding things in CW Arrow-verse shows, particularly The Flash.

I'm with you, why are people still so obsessed with answering a question we've had an answer to for years. Other than physical resemblance being a beginning and not enough for a positive ID, our Harrison Wells was in a wheelchair AND was declared dead 4 years ago. You'd have to disprove either of those things for anyone to consider Harry or HR Wells might actually be the confessed murderer who blew a hole in the city. Same reason no one suspects Green Arrow as being the same guy as the Arrow, despite actually being the same guy. Because a man everyone thought was the Arrow, Roy Harper was killed in prison...for all anyone knew. You'd have to prove Roy was either lying when he revealed himself or still alive for anyone to even consider it.

Superman v. Clark Kent isn't even a fair comparison in the first place. Perry White and Jimmy saw both Clark and Superman all the time and never put it together, because they didn't think Superman even had a human identity. Most people on the street never met Harrison Wells in person and probably didn't really know what the man looked like. They were aware of who he was, but his face didn't leave a Flash /Clark Kent sized imprint on anyone out side Star-Labs.

'A Kryptonian who never had a positive experience with humanity' I went and saw Flashpoint Paradox after watching this video to learn what this reference was. Generally I hear that and I think more of Tal-Rho from Superman and Lois. He thinks humans aren't good because he was a captive and then an outcast on our planet. He Really didn't have a positive experience with humans. Which is why Clark and his family are the only people he gives a damn about. It would be like if Supergirl or Superman thought the Kents and Jimmy Olsen were the only humans worth saving. Just a thought.

Technically Winn couldn't be there for him after he Had to stay, Winn left in the same stroke. Nia helped just as her compassionate self. Lena and Kara were the most awesome people he ever met. And they made him a home here, more than anyone. Well that's probably just me. Then again Winn and Brainy became friends in so freaking short a period of time. It was like Daniel Jackson and Jonas Quinn from Stargate. Those guys met ONCE and were still friends 18 months later.

The Leigon was the first home Qurel Dox knew. He says so on an accidental date with Nia in season four. The DEO was his Star labs. Just as each version of Wells finds a family at STAR Labs with Team Flash, Brainy finds a family and a home at the DEO. Or more accurately, with the super friends. Non-D.E.O. people in the orbit of Superfriends, like Nia Nal and Lena Luthor being just as close to him, emotionally.

The only musical moment in the arrow verse where the background music (as in not sung by someone on screen like at Barry's wedding or Duet) steals the show. But also, try listening to this song without theses images. You can't do it. they go hand in hand. They are one and it is awesomeness incarnate!

Season 3 Harrison Wells. He asked to be called HR and refers to Barry Allen as 'B.A.'. He got ragged on so much for being useless and the one Harrison Wells in the universe that wasn't a scientist. And for the better part of a year was exactly what they needed and was the heart and soul of the team. Also they judged him too quickly but his 'crazy way of thinking' turned out to be exactly what they needed to stop Savitar, their evil speedster god from the future in the first place. Like Winn Schott is the DEO he was the one to come up with some wacky solution so far outside the box no one else would ever think of.

I can identify with that on a multitude of levels. Especially when they called him a fraud and a coward. But his being something other than what everyone saw in him back on his Earth is WHY he 'ran away'. And in leaving his Earth he marked himself for death. And he risked it anyway. to meet a bunch of strangers, to answer thier call for help he risked death without knowing them at all. That's probably the LEAST cowardly any one can be. He sacrificed his life to prove to himself he wasn't a coward. But I'm pretty sure he'd already proved it...to everyone else. I was one of the smartest people any one who knew me had ever met. But because I wasn't educated, or 'scientific' or practical and logical' I was considered the most childish and simplistic.  I had a simple, straight-forward approach to life. But that WAS a sign of intelligence...just not the kind people were looking for. But getting even more personal... Because  didn't know how to articulate something in a way other's could recognize, I was considered learning disabled and in need of 'perspective'. I had a perspective, a perspective they needed but they didn't value. And unlike HR, I never met anyone who recognized that the fault might actually be in how they measured me rather than in what I was made of.

In Bluffton, especially in Christian circles I have people who appreciate my unique perspective. But most of them aren't actually friends I see around town in Bluffton or meet for coffee. I see them once a week in Sunday School. Also even so, they don't know me as a person. I don't have the time to tell them enough of my story that they learn where this unique perspective comes from or who I am as an individual. They don't know my story. Any more than Team Flash knew HR's at first. Thier opinion of him really started to change once his backstory, when his origins and past began to be filled in for them. Most of my friends...haven't gotten that chance yet.
